Diane Quotes & Trivia
[QUOTE] Diane (on smoking): I watched my Great Aunt Jesse die of lung cancer. It's a disgusting death to watch; 178,000 American women will die from smoking, and I don't want to be one of them.

Diane New Event Added

Posted By: diane neal online | Posted On: November 18, 2014

As she’s done in previous years, Diane took part in the Montblanc Presents: 24 Hour Plays to sponsor the Urban Arts Partnership. Participating this year were Sebastian Stan (“Captain America The Winter Soldier”), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), Amanda Seyfried (“Chloe”), Pablo Schrieber (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) and many more. There are two sets. One was the actual event then the after party. Diane is looking smashing as always.

Article About Diane in “24 Hour Plays”

Posted By: diane neal online | Posted On: December 26, 2012

Someone sent this to me regarding Diane in the 24 HOUR PLAYS Diane participates in every year as part of the Urban Arts Festival, of which Diane is a board member. It’s a short article it also discusses Diane’s clean up at her home in New Jersey in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Give it a read. Thanks to Odyssey Mosaic for the find.

Actress will be joined by Rosie Perez, Anthony Mackie, America Ferrera and others in benefit for Urban Arts, which aids underserved city kids

Actress Diane Neal is still cleaning up after superstorm Sandy. The tempest left her cozy Jersey City brownstone soggy and uninhabitable, and her car kaput.

“I’ve been talking with FEMA,” she says, “and crashing on a friend’s couch.”

On Monday, Nov. 12, Neal, known for playing no-nonsense ADA Casey Novak on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” will face a different, gentler storm.

This time it’s a cyclone of creativity called “The 24 Hour Plays,” a one-night annual Broadway benefit for New York City public schools.

How it works: Six short works are written, rehearsed and performed in one day in the annual fund-raiser for Urban Arts Partnership.

Neal will be joined more than 20 actors including “24 Hour” veterans Rosie Perez, Anthony Mackie, America Ferrera and Rachel Dratch, and newcomers Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard and Taran Killam.

“It’s always fast and furious,” says Neal, who’s been involved with Montblanc-sponsored “24 Hour Plays” since 2007. She is a board member of Urban Arts, which brings theater, music, poetry and dance to underserved city kids.

One of the six writers who’ll be pulling all-nighters on Sunday in advance of the Monday night performance is Theresa Rebeck, whose “Dead Accounts” with Katie Holmes is now on Broadway.

“Every time I do this, I think I’ve lost my mind,” she says. “It is hideous, writing a play at four in the morning. But watching them happen on that big stage, just a few hours later — that is bliss.”

“Saturday Night Live” cast member Killam, seen recently on the show acting up as Paul Ryan and spoofing Brad Pitt’s absurd Chanel ads, is fired up about his theater debut.

“I’ve participated in 24-hour film festivals and this seemed similar, but awesomer,” he says. But, he adds, the memorization has him feeling a little queasy.

“On ‘SNL’ we have cue cards right off camera,” he says. “I’m going to have to get creative with a place to hide my lines. I hope I have shoes with flat white soles.”

And as for his nervous stomach, Killam can count on his pal Neal, who recruited him, for a remedy.

“For this event,” Neal says, “I keep Pepto-Bismol and Imodium in my bag.”

“The 24 Hour Plays” runs Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. American Airlines Theatre, 227 W. 42nd St. Tickets at smarttix.com

I loved the comment about the Pepto and the Imodium. Trust Diane to make it funny.

24 Hour Plays on Broadway announces star-studded cast

The cast for the annual 24 Hour Plays on Broadway production has been released and features a powerful list filled with big names.

The cast will include actors and actresses such as Seth Green, Sam Rockwell, Brooklyn Decker and Brooke Shields among others, The Post can exclusively reveal.

Alongside Green, Rockwell, Decker and Shields will be Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Anthony Mackie, Billy Crudup, Carla Gugino, Diane Neal, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Fisher Stevens, Gabourey Sidibe, Jack McBrayer, Kathy Najimy, Liev Schreiber, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Trachtenberg, Rachel Dratch, Rosie Perez and Zosia Mamet.

The show, which will take place on November 12th, is a truly unique experience for both the actors and the winning members of the Urban Arts Partnership who will create an entire play in the short span of 24 hours. The grueling, yet enjoyable process lends its name to the Broadway show, in which the aspiring artists prove their worth by writing, directing and performing one of six ten-minute plays.

“From a tiny theater on the Lower East Side to being on a Broadway stage, it is amazing, not only for Urban Arts but more importantly for the students – it is inspiring,” Perez, Actor & Artistic Board Chair, Urban Arts Partnership said. “The kids participate in the 24 Hour Plays on Broadway and without the support of great sponsors like Montblanc, it wouldn’t have happened. If you could only see the kids, it is so inspiring.”

Montblanc is entering its seventh year presenting the play, and on Monday night held its third annual Young Writer’s Program where seven aspiring writers competed for a chance to work alongside a mentor and pen one of the six plays that theater-goers will see next month. The winner, Maynor Alas, bested the rest of the field, which all competed under the strict and rigorous deadlines that will be required when 24 Hour Plays gets underway.

“Montblanc has supported Urban Arts Partnership, forming great talent along the way,” Jan-Patrick Schmitz, Montblanc North America’s President and CEO, said. It has always been a dream to bring one of these talented young people to a Broadway stage.

“We are dedicated to this program and proud of the contributions we have made during the last several years to enhance the classroom experience for students in our communities.”

24 Hour Plays will take place on Monday November 12th at 8:00 pm at the American Airlines Theater.
