I just found out that Diane has a berth in the third season of the FOX show THE FOLLOWING. There she’ll join other LAW & ORDER alumni Connie Nielsen (Det. Dani Beck – SVU) and Annie Parisie (ADA Alexandra Borgia – The Mothership). No word on her character, but Diane did confirm it on her Twitter account. So looking forward to that this. Article to follow.
‘The Following’ Season 3: ‘Law And Order: SVU’ Diane Neal Joins Cast, Plot Before Season Premiere
With “The Following” season 3 premiere less than two weeks away, it appears another new cast member has leaked into the public fray. As indicated by various tweets, “Law & Order: SVU” actress Diane Neal will be joining what some have called the darkest, most nightmare-inducing plot of “The Following” yet.
The news comes to Design & Trend via posts from Neal’s Twitter account. Yesterday evening, the actress showed off a picture of the badge and gun that she’ll use as a law enforcement officer on the show. If one of her social media connections guessed which show the photo was from, Neal said she would reveal the answer publicly.
Within about 10 minutes, Dianne Neal replied to one fan with “The Following! You Win!”
For those that don’t recall Neal’s past history, she’s most known for playing Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak on “Law & Order: SVU.” After staying on the NBC show for seven seasons and over 100 episodes, she also made appearances on “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans” as Special Agent Abigail Borin.
Given her past pedigree of law enforcement roles, as well as the picture of the gun and badge, it’s assumed that Neal will be in close contact with Ryan Hardy’s FBI trio during the plot of season 3. Spoiler TV lists the role as a guest cast appearance, which means, at least initially, it doesn’t sound too extensive.
As many Joe Carroll fans likely know by now, “The Following” season 3 premiere is only about a week and a half away. That means viewers have been eager to scoop as many details as possible about Fox’s serial killer drama. Design & Trend has a litany of spoiler articles revealing detailed plot information about 2015’s opening episodes, but those only exist for visitors that want to read them.
As for critics that have seen the opening moments of “The Following” season 3 already, they claim that the early plot contains “darker, more twisted, frightening and nightmare-inducing” scenarios for viewers to sink their teeth into.
Diane Neal is far from the first new cast member making a debut in “The Following” season 3. In the past, we’ve covered articles about alumni from “Homeland,” “Almost Human,” “24,” “The Goodwife,” “Weeds” and more. Those links may contain plot spoilers depending on how sensitive one is to such matters.
“The Following” season 3 returns to Fox with a two-hour season premiere on March 2.

Someone sent this to me regarding Diane in the 24 HOUR PLAYS Diane participates in every year as part of the Urban Arts Festival, of which Diane is a board member. It’s a short article it also discusses Diane’s clean up at her home in New Jersey in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Give it a read. Thanks to Odyssey Mosaic for the find.
Diane Neal of ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ does a one-night-only performance of ‘The 24 Hour Plays’
Actress will be joined by Rosie Perez, Anthony Mackie, America Ferrera and others in benefit for Urban Arts, which aids underserved city kids

Actress Diane Neal is still cleaning up after superstorm Sandy. The tempest left her cozy Jersey City brownstone soggy and uninhabitable, and her car kaput.
“I’ve been talking with FEMA,” she says, “and crashing on a friend’s couch.”
On Monday, Nov. 12, Neal, known for playing no-nonsense ADA Casey Novak on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” will face a different, gentler storm.
This time it’s a cyclone of creativity called “The 24 Hour Plays,” a one-night annual Broadway benefit for New York City public schools.
How it works: Six short works are written, rehearsed and performed in one day in the annual fund-raiser for Urban Arts Partnership.
Neal will be joined more than 20 actors including “24 Hour” veterans Rosie Perez, Anthony Mackie, America Ferrera and Rachel Dratch, and newcomers Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard and Taran Killam.
“It’s always fast and furious,” says Neal, who’s been involved with Montblanc-sponsored “24 Hour Plays” since 2007. She is a board member of Urban Arts, which brings theater, music, poetry and dance to underserved city kids.
One of the six writers who’ll be pulling all-nighters on Sunday in advance of the Monday night performance is Theresa Rebeck, whose “Dead Accounts” with Katie Holmes is now on Broadway.
“Every time I do this, I think I’ve lost my mind,” she says. “It is hideous, writing a play at four in the morning. But watching them happen on that big stage, just a few hours later — that is bliss.”
“Saturday Night Live” cast member Killam, seen recently on the show acting up as Paul Ryan and spoofing Brad Pitt’s absurd Chanel ads, is fired up about his theater debut.
“I’ve participated in 24-hour film festivals and this seemed similar, but awesomer,” he says. But, he adds, the memorization has him feeling a little queasy.
“On ‘SNL’ we have cue cards right off camera,” he says. “I’m going to have to get creative with a place to hide my lines. I hope I have shoes with flat white soles.”
And as for his nervous stomach, Killam can count on his pal Neal, who recruited him, for a remedy.
“For this event,” Neal says, “I keep Pepto-Bismol and Imodium in my bag.”
“The 24 Hour Plays” runs Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. American Airlines Theatre, 227 W. 42nd St. Tickets at smarttix.com

I loved the comment about the Pepto and the Imodium. Trust Diane to make it funny.

Diane & NovakPosted By: diane neal online | Posted On: October 13, 2012 |

I’ve noticed a lot of comments directed toward Diane on her Twitter account regarding a return to SVU as Casey Novak. She keeps saying to those queries that it’s not up to her to be on the show. If as a fan of hers you think she has the power to hire herself, don’t know the way the television business works. She can only return to SVU only if there is the desire on behalf of the current showrunner and Dick Wolf to rehire her to come back and play the character. She cannot force the powers that be to hire her or to write for her character. That can only happen by the fans tweeting the showrunner and or the creator/producer of the show to ask they bring her back. So instead of directing all your comments at Diane and clogging up her Twitter account with those continuing questions, why not direct those comments at Warren Leight and Dick Wolf? It might seem more constructive to do so instead of asking her where she has no power. Only you have the power to bring Novak back either in a guest capacity or a full blown capacity a la seasons five through nine. I know this post may seem a bit snotty, but I thought it needed to be said. So what I’ve decided to do is to create a section in the sidebar where you can interact directly with Leight and Wolf to barrage them with those queries. Now one thing I should let you in on, Leight is notorious for blocking those who are negative towards his vision of the show with his pet Danny Pino as Vanilla Boy Amaro. The only other power you have as a viewer is plainly not to watch and tell Leight and Wolf you don’t like the new direction the show has gone in. I know we Christopher Meloni fans are tired of trying to tell Leight and Wolf we want Stabler back and give Chris what he deserved. So I’m just going to ask that you stop inundating Diane with those questions since she really has no power whether Novak returns. Certainly voices are being heard over at CBS where Diane is set to return to NCIS as Abigail Borin. See, they care about their fans…NBC, Leight and Wolf don’t give a crap which is why SVU‘s ratings are tanking. Just my own observation.
